Migrating Podcast and opportunity!

If you are a fan of Allies of Inconvenience (you should be), we are moving from Podomatic to Libsyn. This will allow us to better bring you episodes in the future and indefinitely store them.

Libsyn Page (formatting in progress)
Libsyn RSS feed
iTunes subscribe page

The only catch is that it is a paid for instead of free service. Now I told myself long long ago I was never going to do Advertising on the blog. Just not what I am doing this for and I do not feel the need or desire to clutter the page.

However, the podcast is something above and beyond what I ever thought I would do with Sepulchre, and as such, I am willing to make a compromise there.

I am willing to open up one advertising spot per episode of Allies of Inconvenience. If you have a hobby related product, store, shop, etc. etc. and wish to advertise with us, please contact me at sepulchreofheroes@gmail.com.
Actually the opposite of us
This spot will not be for profit for me or my fellow hosts at all (thus keeping in the spirit of what I started all of this for and what I told myself it would be). It is merely to cover the cost of hosting the podcast. This is just $15 a month on our current plan (which I cannot foresee us exceeding anytime in the near future.) As such, that is what the cost of the spot will be. No need for a cut of profit, a discount code, anything of that nature. You will get that spot for that month, whether we do one or more episodes.

If that is too steep for you, still feel free to reach out and a possible arrangement can be made as you would still be helping cover the cost of hosting.

5 Things Forge World Should Update.... Please if you have time....

Forge World makes cool models. That’s their thing. A lot of times though, those really cool models end up being really really cool paper weights.

It often feels like FWs releases are one edition behind. Bonus out of date points if it directly refers to a core codex. I’m looking at you Codex: Eldar, Codex: Craftworld, Codex: Eldar Craftworlds, and soon to be Codex: Aeldari.

They usually do a good job with FAQ’s/Erratas and they have been doing 2nd Edition versions, but sometimes certain whole army lists float in limbo.

This is a list of worst offenders I could think of.

1.       Imperial Armour 12 – The Fall of Orpheus

So, because IA 12 exists there are two versions of Reanimation Protocols. Also, there are references to the Codex for things that were completely changed or in some cases no longer exist. ITC flat out bans the Dark Harvest army list in its tournament circuit mostly because of this.

FW could release a FAQ/Errata telling which sections to ignore or append. But as it stands it is a good candidate for a 2nd edition version. Unfortunately, there has been zero word on either happening.

2.       Grey Knights and Inquisition

GK and Inq have a several issues, most of which happened because FW didn’t get the memo that Inq was being completely ripped out of GK after 5th edition. They did errata the stuff in IA2 to change some things, but some things are still weird and things like Lok and Rex are still GK HQ options via other books. The latter guy hilariously melts his own mind because of his forced Santic powers. Oh, and good luck looking up what True Silver armour is and how to cast Psychic powers in the movement phase.

Lots of the above exist in “updated” IA Second edition books, so I doubt we’ll see a reprint any time soon. So FAQ?

3.
       Orks

So Orks have a lot of cool models through FW. And the only time I hear about FW Orks is when some guy tells me he’s bringing this special guys cheap stompa.

This stuff has been updated via FAQ/ERRATA, but every direct FW link I’ve found is dead. So I would just start with re-posting that and move one from there

4.       FAQ/Errata

For a while in 7th edition, all the 6th edition FAQ/ERRATAs were still posted and in some cases still required. They have been mostly cleaned now, but I’m just going to point out all the Badab stuff still says for use in 6th edition.

5.
       Dark Eldar Raven Strike fighter

The model is no longer available but the rules are still “usable” and they added death from the sky profile stats via download.

I say “Usable” because……. You know what its better if you read it for yourself, so if you want a really good laugh I encourage you to look up this thing in Imperial Armour – Aeronautica. Real good laugh.

I don’t want to bash FW, I really like everything they do. I just hate to see their beautiful things both figuratively and literally un-usable.

And who knows maybe the stupid above list will be completely irrelevant with 8th edition (it’s a secret).

Adepticon in Adepticon: Our Team Tournament Display Board

First, I want to say that I stole many of these photos from around the web. There are many better photographers out there than I. Particular shout out to Greggles Tabletop for his top knotch coverage of not just our board, but EVERYTHING Adepticon. Check him out for sure.

So our board this year was a massive step up from last year, and we were (not to brag) easily the fan favourite. This was also only our second year there and we already have made it to the Armies on Parade and were one of only 8 teams (out of 116) to score MAX theme on our board. We were super stoked and super pleased with the results.
The theme here is "Inquisicon"- Four Inquisition armies that were given orders to hold a series of "Wargames" but completely misunderstood the point and essentially held their own version of Adepticon. From that I think the rest is self explanatory and I will let the photos do their job.
So the mini-miniatures were made by Pico Armor using their wide range of 3mm minis. We crossed all sorts of time periods for the effects needed (WWI to Sci-Fi and everything in between). The space tables though are done with BFG fighters printed from Shapeways. Every table has an actual scaled game mat from an actual vendor on the table. All the "big" models are wearing a hand made name tag. The vendor tables all have appropriate goods, and the BL and FW tables even have the actual covers of their actual books on them. We had an argument in the parking lot set up where the Land Raider is attempting to push a rhino out of the way (since it had dozerblades). Even the Red Hunters bikes have Adepticon banners on their banner poles. Really tried to make it feel like a convention in miniature. And I think we accomplished said goal.

Conversion Corner - Eldar Wraith Lord and Friends!

So on impulse picked up the new Vanguard raptors with long strike crossbows, mostly just for these guys.....

They're really nice models and I've always hated the razorwing models for my dark eldar.

The unintended side effect is now I have a bunch of vanguard bits and had nothing I really could use them on..... Until I realized I had one un-built wraithlord. And then this guy happened.

It's funny because I was planning on running Wraithlords in my Ynnari lists and as soon as I get him painted he'll make three. I may end up finding a way to sheath a wraith blade and strap it to his back before I'm done though.

A Moment of Fun at Adepticon 2017

So, I was at Adepticon 2017 with some of my friends and a very odd moment happened, so odd I wanted to make a post about it.

I was in the team tournament, on the last day, and in our last match. We were playing some really nice people, who we unfortunately seized on and it didn’t go great for them. They were playing a lot of dreadnoughts and we were killing and/or immobilizing a lot of dreadnoughts.

It was one of those games that I don’t like playing because there is just nothing your opponent can do and it keeps getting worse for them.

But despite the situation, in an amazing moment of levity we all found something to laugh about. Somehow one of us had made a comment about how there are so many kinds of dreadnoughts you can play right now. And I said “I wonder how many.” For the next 15ish mins, we stopped playing, sat around naming different usable dreadnoughts. We even got the table next to us involved.

For your enjoyment, I decided to compile that list. I did make some restrictions though. It’s got to be a dead guy in a coffin attached to two legs, we kept it to unique titled units (i.e. ignoring things like venerable space wolf dreads or blood angel dreadnought classic), Ignoring ghosts in robots, and it’s got to be legally playable.

Dreadnought Classic
Venerable
Ironclad
Librarian (or Mind Quad)
Death Company
Furioso
Contemptor
Helbrute (It’s okay we know you exist)
Venerable Contemptor

Ohh you thought we were done, let us peek into forgeworld shall we.

Chaplain
Siege
Mark V Mortis
Contemptor-Mortis
Grey Knights MK IV Doomglaive
Ferrum Infernus
Emperor’s Children Sonic
Chaos Contemptor
Leviathan
Legion Dreadnought
Decimator (I think this counts)
Deredeo (Boaty McBoat Face)
Mhara Gal
Contemptor-Achillus
Contemptor Galatus

But wait there’s More! There’re also characters

Venerable Dreadnought Nihilus
Cassor the Damned
Bjorn the Fell-Handed
Murderfang the Curseborn (Ye who is most Metal)
Chaplain Dreadnought Titus
Bray’arth Ashmantle
Brother Halar
Hecaton Aiakos

So we got 33. I’m sure there are some we missed and feel free to add them in the comments.

But the above random esoteric list wasn’t the real reason I wanted to make this post. I wanted to point out that what happened during our game is what is supposed to happen in 40k, no matter the situation having fun. There will be winners and losers, but being entertained is the point of this game…. One might call it a hobby……

So, don’t forget to have fun. If you see your opponent is not, make that the new game objective.
